Glossy Chocolate Icing

  • 4 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 1/2 squares of unsweetened chocolate (4 1/2 oz.)
  • 7 1/2 T scalding hot milk
  • 3 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar
  • 3/8 teaspoon salt.
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  1. Melt butter and chocolate together over hot water.
  2. Mix sugar and salt.
  3. Pour hot milk over sugar/salt mixture and stir to dissolve completely.
  4. Add vanilla and chocolate mixture to the suger/milk. It will be very thin.
  5. Beat while hot until it thickens enough to spread and becomes smooth and glossy.
  • Don’t try to beat this by hand. It won’t work.
