Creamy Chocolate Fudge

    • 3 cups sugar
    • 2 squares bitter chocolate
    • 1 tablespoon butter
    • 3/4 cup water
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • pinch of cream of tartar
  1. Put sugar and water in saucepan.
  2. Grate in chocolate.
  3. Cook over medium fire, stirring frequently until mixture boils.
  4. Add cream of tarter.
  5. Cook until soft ball forms in cold water.
  6. Remove from stove, add butter.
  7. Cool until lukewarm.
  8. Add vanilla and beat until candy crumbles.
  9. Scoop out onto greased plate and mold into long loaf.
  10. Cut into pieces.
  • Nuts may be added to the mixture, or halves may be pressed into the pieces after they are cut.
