Sauce for Green Beans

  • 2 strips bacon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 egg
  1. Cook the bacon until crisp and remove from skillet to drain.
  2. Beat the egg, and combine it with the sugar and vinegar.
  3. Add the egg mixture to the bacon fat and cook, stirring, until mixture thickens.
  4. Crumble backon and return it to the sauce
  • Great over green beans.
  • I (Nancy) remember this as a Shoemaker family recipe — dinners with grandma and grandpa (Angie and G.G.) and Aunt Mary Lou and Uncle Frank Hockensmith.
