- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teasp. baking soda
- 1/2 cup soft butter
- 1 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 teasp. salt
- 1 teasp. cinnamon
- 1 teasp. ground cloves
- 1/2 teasp. nutmeg
- 1 egg, unbeaten
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup finely chopped crisp apple
- 1 cup dark or light raisins
- 1/4 cup apple juice or milk
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Sift flour with baking soda.
- Mix butter, brown sugar, salt, spices, and egg until well blended.
- Stir in half of flour mixture, then add nuts, apples, and raisins.
- Blend in apple juice or milk, then remaining flour.
- Drop teaspoons of dough on greased cookie sheet.
- Bake 10-12 minutes or until done.
- While cookies are hot, spread thinly with vanilla glaze.
For vanilla glaze, blend the following in a small bowl:
- 1 1/2 cups sifted XXX sugar
- 1 tablesp. soft butter
- 1/4 teasp. vanilla
- 1/2 teasp. salt
- 2 1/2 tablesp. light cream or milk
