Glazed Fresh Apple Cookies

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teasp. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teasp. salt
  • 1 teasp. cinnamon
  • 1 teasp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 teasp. nutmeg
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup finely chopped crisp apple
  • 1 cup dark or light raisins
  • 1/4 cup apple juice or milk
  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Sift flour with baking soda.
  3. Mix butter, brown sugar, salt, spices, and egg until well blended.
  4. Stir in half of flour mixture, then add nuts, apples, and raisins.
  5. Blend in apple juice or milk, then remaining flour.
  6. Drop teaspoons of dough on greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake 10-12 minutes or until done.
  8. While cookies are hot, spread thinly with vanilla glaze.

For vanilla glaze, blend the following in a small bowl:

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted XXX sugar
  • 1 tablesp. soft butter
  • 1/4 teasp. vanilla
  • 1/2 teasp. salt
  • 2 1/2 tablesp. light cream or milk
