- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon celery seed
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper
- 2 tablespoons mustard seed
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 3 cup vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 9 medium cucumbers, sliced 1/4 inch thick without paring
- 9 medium onions, sliced thin
- Mix dry ingredients.
- Blend with part of vinegar, add rest of vinegar and water.
- Boil 5 minutes.
- Add sliced cucumbers and onions.
- Boil exactly 3 minutes.
- Seal hot in small jars.
- Makes 2 quarts.
