- 1 cup raisins
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup(?) semi-sweet chocolate bits
- Melt shortening.
- Beat egg lightly and stir in sugar and shortening.
- Blend in flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Stir in vanilla, raisns and chocolate bits.
- Spread in a greased 8 inch square baking pan.
- Bake in moderate oven 350° about 35 minutes.
- Makes 16 squares.
