Toll House Oatmeal Cookies

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup soft butter or shortening
  • 6 tablespoons white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chpped nuts
  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Sift together flour, soda, salt. Set aside.
  3. Blend butter or shortening with sugar, vanilla and water. Beat in egg.
  4. Add flour mixture and blend well.
  5. Stir in nuts.
  6. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cooking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes.
