- 1 cup Crisco – 1/2 butter for flavor
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- rind and juice of 1 juicy orange
- 4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar icing: 1 tablespoon of butter melted; juice of one or two oranges and powdered sugar to form consistency of icing to spread on warm cookies.
