- 4 cups coarsely chopped fresh plums
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup coarsely cut walnuts
- 3 tablesp. melted butter
- 2 cups sifted all purpose flour
- 3 teasp. baking powder
- 1/2 teasp. salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- Combine and mix plums, sugar, nuts, and butter. Let stand while making dough.
- Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl.
- Cut in butter until the size of small peas.
- Beat egg and milk and add to flour/butter mixture.
- Turn out on floured board, shape into ball.
- Roll into a rectangle 3/8 in. thick and 15 in. long.
- Spread 1 1/2 cups or little more of plum mixture over dough.
- Pour remaining mixture into 9 in. square baking pan.
- Roll dough tightly like a jelly roll starting at wide side. Seal edges.
- Cut like a jelly roll in 12 even slices.
- Place slices on fruit mixture.
- Bake 350° (for ???)
- Serve warm with cream or whipped cream
